AMG Care Training offers The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism – Tier 2, delivered by our approved trainers. This one-day training course is designed to develop health and social care staff’s knowledge, understanding and skills to support autistic people and people with a learning disability, promoting high-quality, person-centred care.
The training is suitable for health and social care professionals and other staff who provide care and support to autistic people and people with a learning disability. It aims to strengthen staff confidence, improve understanding of individual needs and support the delivery of compassionate, inclusive and person-centred services.
The training is named after Oliver McGowan, a young man whose death highlighted the need for better training and understanding among health and social care staff about the needs of autistic people and people with a learning disability.
Tier 2 training is designed to align with the learning outcomes outlined in the Department of Health and Social Care’s Right to be Heard (2019) report and the Core Capabilities Frameworks for Supporting People with a Learning Disability and Supporting Autistic People.
